The organisers of the Laneway Festival say it will return in 2013 with an eclectic and forward-thinking line up, headlined by Yeasayer, Bat For Lashes and Divine Fits.
Moving away from the big names of last year, when Laura Marling and Feist topped the bill, the touring festival has gone for a selection of exciting breakthrough bands.
Among the buzz-worthy acts heading to Australia are UK art rockers Alt J, who are nominated for the Mercury Music Prize, New Your duo MS MR, and British soul singer Jessie Ware.
Icelandic collective Of Monsters And Men and US folk-pop act Real Estate will make their returns after impressing at recent shows, while garage rockers Japandroids and electronic prodigy Nicholas Jaar will draw the cooler-than-thou crowds.
Local talent performing over the five-city dates will include the stoned electro-soul of Chet Faker, abstract pop from Alpine and the psychedelic rock of Pond, plus band of the moment The Rubens.
