The late Whitney Houston has returned to the Australian music charts with three of her greatest hits albums.

There's been a resurgence in Houston's popularity since her recent death and her two-time platinum record The Greatest Hits (2000) has raced to number three on the ARIA albums chart.

Her The Ultimate Collection (2007) also scored a number 12 berth, while last year's The Essential album landed in 20th spot.

All three compilations achieved their highest ranking in Australia since their original release.

Three of Houston's top-selling number one hits have stormed onto the singles chart. Her most famous track, I Will Always Love You, re-entered at number eight, ahead of I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me) at 25 and I Have Nothing in 47th position.

Meanwhile, British songstress Adele, who cleaned up six Grammy Awards last week, has made an impressive return to number one on the albums chart with 21.

She replaced Lana Del Rey who fell back to number two with her debut record Born To Die.

Flo Rida's collaboration with Australian pop singer Sia, Wild Ones, has retained its title as the country's number one song for the fifth consecutive week.

It beat out Gym Class Heroes' Ass Back Home, featuring Neon Hitch, which skyrocketed from 17 to two after just a fortnight on the charts.
