Hugh Jackman has joked he is placing a bet on Daniel Day-Lewis triumphing at the Oscars - to ensure he wins something.
The Australian star is in the running for the best actor Academy Award, alongside Day-Lewis, Bradley Cooper, Joaquin Phoenix and Denzel Washington.
Day-Lewis has already triumphed at the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards and is widely tipped to collect the trophy on February 24.
Jackman can't wait for the ceremony and isn't getting too wound up about his nomination."The way that I look at it is, I'm just going to put money on him (Day-Lewis). That way it's a win-win. Right?" he laughed to Access Hollywood at the Oscar nominees' luncheon in Beverly Hills yesterday.
"And the other three as well I'm going to put money on them all. Like, a lot of money."
Jackman's movie Les Miserables is in the running for eight Oscars, with Anne Hathaway mentioned in the best supporting actress category and the release up for best movie.
Russell Crowe also appears in the picture and has been there for Jackman throughout awards season.
"He's been amazing through this whole process, he's someone whose been there many times before and he's been on the end of the phone several times and [is] really, really supportive," Jackman gushed.
Later in the day Jackman appeared alongside Jessica Chastain on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Chastain has been nominated for the best actress Academy Award for her role in Zero Dark Thirty, with the release vying against Les Miserables to be named best picture.
The two stars put their rivalry aside though and discussed how much fun they had at the earlier Oscars luncheon.
Jackman joked he is forever in debt to Chastain, as she was on hand to give him advice as they were posing."I was standing next to the Oscar statuette, standing there for about three minutes, I said, 'Jessica, it's taking all my willpower not to put the bunny ears on the Oscar,'" he laughed. "And she said, 'That's hilarious. Don't do it.'"
