The director behind the Rolling Stones’s latest documentary is working on a new film about Kurt Cobain with the Nirvana frontman’s widow Courtney Love.

Brett Morgan teamed up with the veteran British rockers to make Crossfire Hurricane, a film to mark the band’s 50 years in the music industry, and he has now revealed he is working on another music movie about Nirvana legend Cobain.

The currently untitled project is expected to be released in 2014 and Morgan says the film is the brainchild of Hole star Love, who was married to Cobain until his death in 1994.

"Courtney is the one that brought me into this," Morgan told New York Post gossip column Page Six.

"We’ve been trying to find the right time to put this film together and the time is now ... Kurt was not only an amazing songwriter and musician, he was an incredible artist and filmmaker. So we are going to do the movie sort of like a third-person autobiography - (as) if Kurt was around and making a film about his life."

Earlier this month, Love denied a report she is working on a musical based on Cobain’s life, saying, "Sometimes it’s best just to leave things alone."
