It's a brand that already has a legion of followers around the world but the rock-star glamour of Wheels & Dollbaby is no longer reserved just for humans.

Now fans' furry four-legged friends can frock up in the iconic label's wares after Perth designer and animal lover Melanie Greensmith announced she had created a limited-edition duo of dog jackets to benefit the homeless hounds of WA.

Sporting the signature Wheels & Dollbaby patterns of bows and skulls, the coats will roll out at City Farmers stores this month and will be launched at a canine catwalk event today, with proceeds going to the Dogs' Refuge Home in Shenton Park.

Greensmith is a mother to two pooches, several cats, horses, a sheep and a goat, and told Access All Areas it was important for her to give a voice to animals.

"I can't stand the thought of dogs suffering," she said. "I love animals and so does (partner Mark McEntee), so we like to help them out all we can. Dog accessories are such a big thing in fashion now - a lot of the designers are doing them and I thought it was a cute idea."

Greensmith was delighted to see that Wheels followers who have managed to snag the coats early were already posting pictures to Instagram of their pets wearing the designs.

The fashion maven added she was also planning to give a handful to her celebrity fans. "I am going to send some to my friends all around the world," Greensmith said. "Like (Blondie singer)Debbie Harry, she has two doggies."

With winter fast approaching, Greensmith urged Perth locals to donate blankets to the refuge to help keep the dogs warm in the colder months.
