While Kylie Minogue made it to Perth for her Burswood Dome date tonight before volcanic ash clouds grounded air flights to and from the east coast, her support act has had to cancel their appearance.
Melbourne electro-pop outfit Gypsy and the Cat, who have opened for the pop princess at her previous nine dates around the nation, will not get to complete the Australian leg of the Aphrodite: Les Folies tour.
The band revealed this fact via Twitter on Wednesday morning: "dear perth friends, we can't make it over in time today for the last show with kylie because of the plane volcanic ash dilemma".
After being discovered by Triple J and signed to major label Sony, Gypsy and the Cat – London-based duo Lionel Towers and Xavier Bacash – released their debut album, Gilgamesh, last year.DJ JB will warm up the expected crowd of 13,000 fans before Minogue hits the stage just after 8pm.
