Book Review: Rounds

The West Australian May 10, 2011, 1:57 pm

Perth is growing up. It's not just the neat little bars and boutiques; our artists are staying. Rounds showcases the work of 10 artists who, a decade ago, would have fled east the minute they graduated. The Rounds exhibition was curated by Sarah Rowbottam at PICA earlier this year, and featured nine artists creating works in response to those created by fellow artists in a cyclical format. The lavish, locally produced book is a delight for both eye and noggin. From Bennett Miller's daschund to Rebecca Baumann's glitter curtain, the text reads as part treatise, part confessional. The book makes compelling reading.
