DCI Banks: Aftermath, Friday, 6.30pm, UKTV

Stephen Tompkinson does not entirely capture the dour toughness of novelist Peter Robinson's character Detective Chief Inspector Alan Banks but he brings plenty of angst to the role and, no doubt, he will grow into it.

Aftermath starts with young girls going missing and then the chance discovery of the man who has killed four of them.

One girl's body is not found with the others and DCI Banks hopes she may still be alive. But then the neighbour who raised the alarm about the killer may not be all she seems.

Aftermath is the 12th novel in the DCI Banks series and three others are being adapted for TV.
