Seinfeld star Jason Alexander only considers himself a stand-up comic in Australia.

The American actor, comedian and singer is due to return Down Under later this month with his show, Jason Alexander's Comedy Spectacular.

It features a line-up of local comedians, including Glenn Robbins, Mick Molloy and Julia Morris, and Alexander doing something he's never attempted anywhere else in the world - stand-up.

"Australia is unique to me in that I really don't do stand-up anywhere else in the world," Alexander told AAP from his home in Los Angeles.

"I was never a stand-up here in the States - I have hosted things and MC-ed things, but that's different from being a stand-up comic, which is a very unique and specific craft.

"For better or worse, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, I don't know if you're the winners or the losers, but you get me doing stand-up."

It is the third time Alexander has brought this type of show to Australia in recent years, and he said he's made some good Aussie friends on the shows, like Molloy and the Scared Weird Little Guys.

He always tries to inject a bit of local flavour into his performance.

On his first visit he talked about his fear of the dangerous animals Australia is renowned for.

The second time around he explored two national obsessions: cricket and football.

Cricket remains a mystery to him but he's a footy convert.

"Footy is fantastic. I went to a live game when I was there, and these are some of the best athletes in the world these guys," he enthused.

"It's the most dangerous, exciting game in the world."

The other regular in his stand-up show is a Q&A segment so the audience can ask their inevitable Seinfeld questions: What is your favourite episode? What's your favourite line? Who did you like the best? Who did you like the least? Are you guys going to get back together?

"Believe me, they're not asking me anything I haven't heard before, but it's fine with me," he laughed.

Jason Alexander's Comedy Spectacular travels to Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide and Sydney in November and December.
