Fame stressed me out: Hathaway

Hollywood star Anne Hathaway oozes confidence but the actress says she didn't always feel that way.

"The fame thing? F…ed me up for a really long time," Hathaway has told Elle UK in an interview for the magazine's October issue.

"I didn't know how to do it; I didn't know how to engage with it; it stressed me out.

"And people would say, 'You just have to be yourself,' and I was like, 'But I don't know who that is yet'."

The 31-year-old star has previously said she fell off the radar by choice after she won her 2013 Oscar for best supporting actress in Les Miserables.

"My impression is that people needed a break from me," she told The Huffington Post in January.

But now Hathaway says she's completely comfortable in her own skin.

"I've realised that (I) don't need validation from anyone. At all," she said.

"I'm not sitting here now worrying, 'What do you think of me?' With all due respect, you seem like a lovely lady, but I don't need you, or anyone else, to like me.

"And that's so liberating. It's a big reveal, man."
