Smith and King set for Perth

Kris Smith is used to having women fawn over him when he comes to Perth each year for the annual Myer Fashion Luncheon.

In his role as ambassador for the department giant, the hunk will return once more in September for the event, which is part of Telstra Perth Fashion Festival.

But this time around there may be one very special woman in the crowd - Smith's girlfriend of two years, model Maddy King.

"She is hoping to get over with me this time," the Brit told AAA Weekend.

"We have a couple of friends in Perth so she wanted to come as she has never been. We are going to try to make it happen that she can come over and hopefully we will have a couple of days to see these world-famous beaches that we hear so much about."

But don't think Smith is forgetting about his devotees in WA, who year-on-year ensure the Myer Luncheon sells out.

The amiable heartthrob, who also co-hosts Seven talk show The Daily Edition, said the warm welcome he always receives in Perth kept him coming back for more.

"I want to see all the ladies there in full spirits and in full voice," Smith said.

"I like it - when you walk out on a catwalk and people are quiet it is quite daunting because you don't know people's thoughts. But as soon as they are vocal and they tell you they like it, it is perfect."

One thing Smith is hoping doesn't repeat itself is the slippery catwalk that caused models to stumble at last year's event. "I had actually erased that from memory," he chuckled. "It's something that happens and, provided no one is injured, it is pretty funny to watch."

Smith will strut the runway alongside fellow ambassador Jennifer Hawkins at the Myer spring/summer launch in Sydney on Thursday.
