Kylie Minogue has hinted she may return to Neighbours in time for the soap's 30th anniversary.

The songstress, who appeared as tomboy mechanic Charlene Robinson on the show, posted a cryptic tweet that suggested she may don her iconic overalls once more.

"So . . . I bought overalls today. #overalls," Minogue wrote alongside a picture of a blushing face.

The tweet comes after the series' cast called for the star, 46, and her on-screen husband Jason Donovan to make a cameo appearance to celebrate Neighbours turning 30 next year.

Charlene and Donovan's character Scott drew in more than 20 million British viewers when they wed in a much-publicised TV ceremony.

The two actors farewelled Ramsay Street in 1988 but their on-screen son Daniel, played by Tim Phillips, recently joined the cast.

Earlier this year Minogue joked that might be reason enough to return to the soap. "Maybe I'll have to get back into it now and keep an eye on my son," she said.

In a 2010 interview, Minogue also said she would consider going back to Neighbours.

"The other day I thought how much fun it would be to do it after years of saying never," The Voice coach said.

"I've decided how it would work. Charlene would screech up the drive in her souped-up Mini which she's been working on all the time. I don't watch the show any more but it could be fun to do that. It could be hilarious."
