Times boom for Perth property queen

From gloom to boom and drab to fab, Perth property princess Sasha deBretton thrives on a challenge.

As well as heading up Claremont- based luxury home-renovation business Million Dollar Makeovers - launched in 2009 during the global financial crisis, no less - she is the author of How To Make a Mint in a Meltdown, a regular guest on Seven's The Real Estate Program, producer and presenter of her own Million Dollar Makeovers web series and proud single mother to teenage daughter Georgie.

And it seems her profile is only set to get bigger.

The glamorous entrepreneur, whose many awards and accolades include Telstra Business Woman of the Year, is due to appear alongside the likes of iinet boss Michael Malone, Court Hotel owner Bree Maddox, car king John Hughes and fashion designer to the stars Ruth Tarvydas in the ABC's six-part documentary series Boomtown.

She is also working on a new series earmarked for Seven and backed by Australia's largest independent television production group Southern Star Entertainment, whose various shows have included Big Brother, Offspring, Deal or No Deal and Beauty and the Geek.

"It's a reality docu-drama and at the moment it's still in progress. There's been a (promo) sizzle reel put on the desks and it's still being re-edited and cut," deBretton told AAA Weekend.

"It's quite a big gig to pull off but the word is that they (Channel 7) like the show and the concept, so it's just going through that next stage of sizzle reel to TV pilot."

Building a media profile, deBretton explained, was a key part of her business plan, with national and potentially international expansion in her sights.

"Once you get a media profile, you can platform into a lot of different areas and it's easier to launch (Million Dollar Makeovers) into the Eastern States if I'm already a known commodity," she said.

"Timing is everything . . . if the Southern Star series comes off, then your launch is a lot easier."

And the talented go-getter's on-screen ambitions don't stop there.

"I started a recipe book 14 years ago when I was pregnant with *Georgie * but haven't finished it because I haven't got the time," she said.

"But cooking is a passion and I would actually love to do my own hot and sassy cooking show."

Boomtown premieres on ABC1 at 6.30pm on December 15.
