Food Safari
TODAY, 7.30PM, SBS ONE
It's been a while since I've watched a cooking show that doesn't involve meltdowns in the kitchen and venomous glances around the dinner table.
With no dash of drama on the menu, there's nothing to focus on but the food, and here Filipino cuisine takes centrestage.
If the mark of a good cooking show is that it makes you feel very hungry and keen to try new flavours, this certainly delivers.
Lashings of ginger, garlic, red onion, vinegar, shrimp paste, soy sauce, pork and vegetables are tossed around to create colourful, tantalising dishes which host Maeve O'Meara obviously relishes.
With such a range on offer, it's no surprise to learn Filipinos sit down to eat six times a day.'The West Australian' is a trademark of West Australian Newspapers Limited 2013.
