REVIEW: A Memory of Light

The West Australian Updated February 21, 2013, 7:00 am

This is it: the ending of the 14-book Wheel of Time series. Robert Jordan died in 2007 and Brandon took on the mighty task of finishing the series from notes and partials. The series sprawled, with new twists and turns in every novel, to the delight of its fans. Tying together all the many strands and resolving the plots and subplots really did require a book of this length, and Sanderson has done a brilliant job. Rand al'Thor, the Dragon Reborn, is trying to unite all the realms and break the seals on the Dark One's prison. Some think he's crazy, but time presses and it winds up with a satisfyingly enormous battle.
