Australia's most-famous annual bachelor hunt kicks off again this week, with a judging panel of swooning ladies descending on Sydney tomorrow to cast their eye over the next 50 potential Cleo Bachelor finalists.

• Perth *-raised *Margaret River *-based hottie *Alex Brooks *, who at just 25 is the co-owner of Morries cafe/restaurant in the idyllic South West town, told _AAA _ that he didn't put himself up for the competition and was instead encouraged to enter.

"I didn't enter," he said. "I'm naturally a little bit reluctant about these kinds of things but it's really good for Morries because I love what I do and it's a phenomenal opportunity to get (the restaurant) established a little bit more. It's also just for a little bit of fun."

On whether he has what it takes to follow in the footsteps of former *WA *Cleo bachelor finalists such as *Johnny Ruffo *, who was runner up last year, and Olympic swimmer *Eamon Sullivan *, who won the title in 2011, Brooks was modest.

"I wouldn't know, I don't know who the other applicants are," he said. "Whatever will be, will be I suppose."

But does he think being a candidate for this year's title will help boost his chances in the love department?

"At the moment I'm so busy," he said.

"But I'm happy if there is someone out there for me . . . I suppose if I met 'the one' one day, she'd know and I'd know, and it would just work I suppose."

Brooks will be up against a bevy of other Australian hunks, including X Factor host *Luke Jacobz *, Home and Away's *Lincoln Younes * and former Margaret River resident *Nic Westaway *.
