As a breakfast radio presenter and busy single mum, *Lisa Fernandez *is already the woman who can do it all.
But this year, she will add a new skill to her repertoire when she ventures into the world of comedy.
Fernandez has graced local airwaves as part of *Lisa, Paul & Baz *on 92.9 for three years after successful stints on radio in country New South Wales, Brisbane, Adelaide and MIX 94.5. During her time she has amassed a list of stories from quirky callers and celebrity guests.
The vivacious presenter will now use her gift of the gab in a new way when she steps up to the microphone in national comedy competition Raw Comedy at the Charles Hotel tonight.
Fernandez tells _Access All Areas _that while she won't be giving up her primary passion of radio anytime soon, it was a new year goal of hers to try her hand at comedy.
"It's something I have always wanted to do and I have dabbled in it in the last couple of years but this was the year I thought 'OK Lisa, take the bull by the horns and just go for it'," she says.
As mum to three-year-old daughter *Isabella *, Fernandez admits juggling a fast-moving career with motherhood isn't always easy but she considers herself blessed because her father helps out with her early shifts on weekdays.
"My dad is there in the mornings when I get up at 3.45 and then he drops Isabella to day care," Fernandez says. "You get tired but I am actually lucky because I get to be home in the afternoon when she is at home."
Fernandez' transparency when it comes to her personal life has won her many loyal fans who look up to the presenter as a role model. However, she has also experienced her fair share of criticism and trolling over social media.
Fernandez takes it in her stride, though, and says having haters is part and parcel of her job.
"You have got to expect that being in the public eye," she says. "Does it hurt my feelings? Yes, absolutely. Have I cried about some of the stuff people have said? Of course, I am a human being. Have I been distraught about what people have said about my parenting? More than I'd ever be able to talk about.
"But that's life, that's the career I've chosen. I am a nice person. If you know me you will know that."
Lisa, Paul & Baz airs weekdays from 6am.
