Perth's Renae Ayris is a serious contender for the Miss Universe crown according to the latest betting odds.

The Connolly beauty has come on the fourth line of betting at $13.

Announced yesterday, Miss South Africa Melinda Bam is the $3.50 favourite, with the South American trio of Miss Ecuador Carolina Andrea Aguirre Perez, Miss Puerto Rico Bodine Koehler and Miss Venezuela Esser Quintero all next at $8.

"Tony Abbott could only dream of her approval rating with the public," sportsbet's Ben Hawes said.

"Ayris said her dream is to become a Victoria's Secret model, so if she wins this you'd think she will be strutting her stuff alongside Miranda Kerr in no time."

The judging final and winner's announcement will take place on Thursday morning (WA time) in a live telecast to an estimated two billion viewers worldwide.

The Australia's Got Talent star, who moved to Perth when he was four and lived in Wanneroo, Edgewater and Carine before moving to Canberra, will perform with US band Train at the world's most famous beauty pageant at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas.
