The Grammy awards have recognised Gotye, with the Melbourne-based singer-songwriter scoring a nomination for record of the year for his duet with Kimbra, Somebody That I Used To Know.

Wally de Backer, better known as Gotye, took four ARIAs last week, including the coveted album of the year gong for his third long-player, Making Mirrors.

The Grammy award category includes a hefty six nominees, each of which was inescapable over the past year. The list also includes Kelly Clarkson’s Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You), fun.’s We Are Young, Taylor Swift’s We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together, The Black Keys’ Lonely Boy and Frank Ocean’s Thinkin Bout You.

Clarkson and fun. also were nominated in the best pop vocal album category, announced on last night at the top of the Grammys nominations concert, aired live from Nashville for the first time.
