The last of the long-awaited Beauty and the Geek makeovers were unveiled last night, and while it was no surprise there was a Prince Charming hidden beneath the nerdy exterior of "hot" geek Richard Bell, biomedical engineering student Chard Oldfield and town planner Jason Newell also wowed the beauties, thanks to celebrity stylist Henry Roth.
Though Oldfield has been known for his long ginger locks and bushy beard, he looked anything but an awkward geek when he stepped out to reveal his new rock-star look.
Speaking to AAA, Oldfield said he initially dreaded the thought of his mane getting the chop but soon grew fond of his shorter, sharper look.
"I knew going on the show that the hair and beard would go if I got to the makeover stage," he said.
"But I hadn't seen myself without long hair for eight years and without a beard for three or four, so I really had no idea what to expect. I thought, if (cutting my hair) didn't work, then it would take a long time to grow it back. But it is definitely a lot easier to maintain and I must say, when I did see how I looked, I was pretty stoked."
Tall and lanky Newell, whose pre-makeover look had been likened to a younger John Lennon, told AAA he was also surprised by his suave transformation.
"It was really hard because I didn't get to see what I looked like and I had to resist the urge to look at my (reflection in the) cufflinks to see what I looked like," he said."But I'm extremely happy, I think I looked pretty good and all the girls seemed to agree."
