A movie producer has filed a lawsuit against The Mummy star Brendan Fraser, accusing the actor of beating him up - twice.

Todd Moyer claims Fraser, who stars in the upcoming movie The Legend of William Tell, got drunk at a hotel in Indianapolis a year ago and started pushing him around and verbally threatening him.

And Moyer alleges the star repeated the behaviour during a meeting about the movie on New Year's Eve, when Moyer refused Fraser's request to hire a producer named Charlotte Huggins.

In legal papers, obtained by TMZ.com, Moyer claims Fraser struck him in the chest at least 20 times and he insists he suffered extreme mental anguish and physical pain.

The producer is demanding at least $US25,000 ($A24,750) in damages.

Fraser launched a legal spat with Moyer in May, claiming the producer and his team caused delays that forced him to pass up other work.

Fraser is demanding more than $US3 million in damages.
