McKellen and Hobbit stars do charity show

Actor Sir Ian McKellen thrilled the audience at his charity show in New Zealand on Saturday by welcoming his The Hobbit co-stars to the stage.

The 73-year-old has been performing a string of one-man shows to raise money for a theatre which was devastated by the 2011 earthquake, and his latest stop took him to Wellington's Opera House.

Martin Freeman, Aidan Turner, Richard Armitage and Luke Evans were among the stars who graced the stage with the acting great, who played a director to his pals in one skit.

Proceeds from McKellen's charity shows are going towards the restoration of Christchurch's Isaac Theatre Royal.
