REVIEW: Drink Smoke Pass Out

Comedienne Judith Lucy lays her soul bare in a journey of self- discovery from childhood to the filming of ABC series Judith Lucy's Spiritual Journey, in search of answers to life's eternal questions. Rejecting her Catholic upbringing, she chronicles her devastated years of low self-esteem and addiction to drugs and alcohol, fuelled by a desperate effort to fill a void in her life. Her parents' sudden deaths leave her in a spiral of despair, precariously existing rather than living. Learning to still the mind through yoga and meditation, she finds self- acceptance and tolerance of other people's need for spiritual nourishment the key to a happier life. An exploration of religion, sex, disintegration and redemption narrated with Lucy's trademark humour.
