REVIEW: SUSAN HEWITT
From the start there are an awful lot of characters to get your head around.
But Foster has such a knack for intrigue and is so engaging in her storytelling, it's easy to persevere, and this, her third novel - set in her adopted WA - is sharper and more mysterious than ever.
Desi has been in prison, she has also at some point been madly and passionately in love.
Throw forward 18 years and she's an ex-con, estranged from her daughter, her best friend and her father.
The love of her life is little more than a shimmering, long-absent presence.Foster's clues, dropped carefully as secrets unfold and the past reveals itself, will keep you guessing right up to the last page.
