Channel 9 newsreader Alicia Gorey has a promising career and a wedding to plan - all thanks to Perth.
"The reason I am where I am today is the people in Perth," Gorey tells Access All Areas over the phone from Sydney.
"My news director in Perth gave me my first job in the ABC newsroom."
The TV personality kick-started her career as Triple J's WA correspondent in 2003 and met her fiance Kane during her five years here, before moving back to Melbourne in 2008.
The Perth lad, who is a lawyer, surprised Gorey with a white gold princess-cut diamond engagement ring last Saturday morning while on a beach holiday.
But it's not just Gorey's personal life which is flourishing.
Gorey, now based in Sydney, presents the news on Weekend Today and acts as a fill in for Nine News - however it's her latest gig that is setting tongues wagging.
Gorey is working with Shane Warne on his entertainment chat show Warnie.
An avid cricket fan, Gorey puts some of the nation's most famous current and ex-cricketers through The Spin Cycle, a rapid-fire Q&A session.
Despite the cricket bad boy's recent troubles, Gorey sings his praises."He's a really likable guy, most guys love him," she says.
