Liam Hemsworth has followed in fiancee Miley Cyrus' footsteps by having a quote from US President Theodore Roosevelt's famous 'Citizenship in a Republic' speech tattooed on his arm.

The Hunger Games star had the words "if he fails, at least fails while doing greatly" inked on the upper part of his left arm, posting a snap on his Instagram photo sharing account.

The phrase precedes the quote which his fiancee had tattooed on her left forearm in July, which reads "so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who knew neither victory nor defeat."

Hemsworth displayed his tattoo next to a photo of Cyrus' so fans can see the full scale of their copycat inkings.
