WA-born-and-raised photographer Russell James continues to shoot some of the world's highest profile celebrities.
James was given exclusive backstage access to photograph *Barbra Streisand *before her much anticipated US tour kicked off on Monday night in Philadelphia.
The notoriously controlling diva, whom James told AAA he calls "Hollywood royalty", even allowed him to photograph her in her dressing room before she hit the stage.
"Honoured and excited to be invited backstage with @barbrastreisand before her concert in Philly," James tweeted along with a candid black-and-white photograph of the Evergreen singer before he took his seat in the audience for the sold-out show, where tickets cost as much as $US650 ($635).
The photographer, who is an international ambassador for the Perth Fashion Festival, will also photograph Streisand
at her homecoming Brooklyn concerts on Friday and Sunday, the first time the star will perform in Brooklyn, where she was born and raised.
James met Streisand through his friend fashion designer Donna Karan, who is a long-time pal of Streisand.
Last year, Streisand attended James' Nomad Two Worlds exhibition launch in Los Angeles and even serenaded him over the phone for his birthday. When he isn't shooting Streisand on tour, James' other day job is the official photographer for Victoria's Secret. One of the latest campaign images features Aussie supermodel Miranda Kerr and James revealed Kerr managed to get to New York for just one day for him to get the shot before she had to jet off to another continent.
