Chris Noth has "finally" shaken off the Sex and the City "stigma".

The actor attracted fans all over the world by playing Carrie Bradshaw's love interest Mr Big in the hit TV series and subsequent movie franchise.

Although the show ended in 2004, Noth has only recently managed to get some distance from the iconic role.

"Every day I still get stopped because someone wants a picture with Mr Big," he tells New York Daily News.

"But I finally got over the stigma. I've got a four-year-old son now and other things seem more important."

The 57-year-old star has since gone on to land roles in shows such as The Good Wife.

His latest small screen outing sees him play real-life tycoon JP Morgan in Titanic: Blood and Steel.

Although Noth is pleased to be testing himself with other projects, he would never rule out appearing in another Sex and the City movie.

"Sure, you look at anything if they pay you enough and the writing is good," he explained.

"At the end of the day, I'm just an actor looking for work."
