Zsa Zsa Gabor's husband Prince Frederic Von Anhalt has reportedly saved their mansion from foreclosure after securing a $US1.5 million ($A1.53 million) loan following an appeal for financial help on Facebook.

The 95-year-old actress has been suffering ill health for several years, and her husband has put their Californian property up for sale for $US14.9 million after admitting the house is too big to manage.

However, the pair have defaulted on the $US700,000 mortgage, and face foreclosure if payments are not brought up to date, according to TMZ.com.

The website reports Von Anhalt recently took to his Facebook page to bemoan his financial situation, which prompted fans to offer to help.

One follower helped him secure the loan to pay off the mortgage, but Von Anhalt reportedly has only 12 months to pay it back in full.
