One woman has taken to the streets to offer Hawaiian summer treats in Bunbury, Australind and Harvey.
Lisa White already had a licence to sell shave ice – a traditional Hawaiian treat of fine ice with syrup – at festivals and events and had been doing so since October 2007.
This year, Mrs White has taken a business step forward and – to begin with – will sell her Chillout products from a mobile van in Bunbury, Australind and Harvey.
“My husband and I had been selling the products for some time but we wanted to go a step further and have a mobile service,’’ she said.
Customers will be able to flag down the van as it drives around.
“We ask you to listen out for our Hawaiian music and keep an eye out for the van with the shave ice and icecream images,’’ Mrs White said.
In addition to the shave ice, Mrs White will also sell waffles on a stick, fairy floss and Dole Soft Serve — a lactose and gluten free icecream that comes in five fruit flavours.
“Usually food associated with being ‘healthy’ compromises on taste, but not this,’’ Mrs White said.
Mrs White said her van would be available for special events.
She said and the Chillout in Style brand often gave back 20 per cent of proceeds as a donation to the community or sporting group hosting the event.
