Shares in contractor NRW Holdings were higher after the company secured a $90 million contract for bulk earthworks at Rio Tinto's Yandi sustaining project at the company's Yandicoogina mine in the Pilbara.
The work - involving excavation, embankment construction, levee construction, construction of culverts, building a bridge and floodways - aims to expand the mine's production capacity.
The bulk earthworks contract is expected to run for 40 weeks beginning in late November.
More than 300 workers will be involved in the project at its peak.
NRW shares closed up 7.5 cents, or 4.1 per cent, to $1.91.
