UPDATE 1.15pm: Macmahon Holdings has appointed former WesTrac boss Jim Walker as a non-executive director.
The appointment follows the planned retirement of non-executive director Dr David Smith.
Mr Walker retired as WesTrac's long serving managing director and chief executive in August.
Prior to joining WesTrac, Mr Walker held roles with other Caterpillar dealers within Australia including Hastings Deering, Morgan Equipment and the Bougainville dealership in Papua New Guinea.
Mr Walker is a former Director of Seven Group Holdings, National Hire and Coates Group, and was formerly National President of the Australian Institute of Management.
He is currently a member of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy's Executive Council.Macmahon shares closed up half a cent, or 3.85 per cent, at 13.5 cents.
