UPDATE 2.40pm: Languishing construction services group Global Construction Services has received some good news, winning a $10.4 million Brookfield Multiplex contract.
Shares in the company jumped after it announced it had been awarded the first stage of the major formwork and concrete works contract on the construction of a second office tower at the Brookfield Place development in Perth's CBD.
The building will provide up to an additional 34,000sqm of office space for the broader Brookfield development.
Early works will begin immediately with completion expected in a year.
GCS managing director Enzo Gullotti said there was a significant amount of new activity in the commercial sector in WA.
"This project is the first of a number of major commercial projects to be let and we are anticipating a resurgence in this sector in full-year 2014," he said.Shares in the company closed up five cents, or 9.9 per cent, at 55.5 cents.
