Ertech founder wins business gong

Jim Giumelli, the founder of construction services group Ertech, has been honoured as one of WA's top entrepreneurs.

Mr Giumelli was one of four winners of accounting firm EY's Entrepreneur of the Year regional awards at Crown Perth last night, taking out the services category. He was joined by Olivia Humphrey, the founder of the Kanopy online and DVD education business, who won the emerging category, solar electricity systems company Sun Connect's chief Mark Tuke (technology) and Frank Wilson, chief executive of listed sandalwood company TFS Corporation (industry). The quartet will compete for the national awards in Sydney in November.

Fiona Wood and Navitas chief executive Rod Jones were also acknowledged in non-competitive categories, winning the social entrepreneur and champion of entrepreneurship awards. Founder of mining contractor MACA Geoff Baker won the listed category.
