Burke back in court

Former premier-turned lobbyist Brian Burke has appeared in court again to face four charges related to insider trading.

He appeared briefly in Perth Magistrates Court on Friday but did not enter a plea.

Burke was found guilty in 2010 of misleading the Corruption and Crime Commission (CCC) over Smiths Beach Resort, about 200km south of Perth, and was fined $25,000.

But the CCC’s attempts to lay 11 other charges against him have all been unsuccessful.

He was also jailed in 1994 for misusing parliamentary travel allowances.

Burke is due back in court in May.
