Fleetwood has signalled its intention to move further into property with the appointment of Primewest boss John Bond to its board.

The donga and caravan manufacturer said Mr Bond had 20 years' experience as a professional property investor, with a wide range of experiences in negotiating acquisitions, overseeing the development of properties and asset management.

Mr Bond is a founding director of Primewest, which has a property portfolio valued at $1.7 billion, including the Esplanade Hotel in Fremantle, which was purchased from Marylyn New for $88.5 million late last year.

Fleetwood shares were off five cents to $8.92 shortly before the close of trade.
