One night’s hard work as a family earned Gallery 22 first place in a Bunbury business Christmas window competition.
The giftware shop was judged to have the best festive-themed display from a field of 31 CBD traders.
Owner Jill Johns has won a $6500 advertising package courtesy of the South Western Times, WIN Television, Hot FM and Lomax Media.
“I’m blown away, I couldn’t believe it because there were so many other good windows decorated for Christmas,’’ she said.
Mrs Johns said her brother Ross Watson made the arch that sat inside the doorway – the store had used it for two years.
“We do a different design inside it each time,’’ she said.
Mrs Johns is encouraging other businesses to take part in the competition next year.
“If we all did it, we’d have so many more people come into Bunbury for shopping,” she said.
The winners of the competition were announced last Friday at a reception held at the Bunbury Chamber of Commerce and Industries.
G.J Gardner Homes Bunbury won second place, ShaWaVi Hair Studio came third and Adult Shop.com came fourth.
Customers who were also in the running for prizes.Margaret Hodgkinson came first and won a hamper worth more than $2000, Dulcie Foreman came second and won a hamper worth $900 and Vicki Properjohn came third, winning a hamper worth $375.
