Retailers and service providers in the Bunbury central business district are encouraged to spread festive cheer by taking part in the Christmas Window Display Competition.
Participating stores will decorate their shop fronts with a Christmas-themed installation to spruce up the CBD and provided a heightened sense of community over the holiday period.
Margo Veen, of Veen’s Design Drafting Service, jumped at the opportunity to take part.
“If enough stores get involved the decorations become a form of entertainment and will attract visitors and business,” Mrs Venn said.
Owners of the best decorated shopfront will win a $6500 advertising package, courtesy of the South Western Times, WIN Television, Hot FM and Lomax Media.
Customers and clients of participating stores who leave contact details on their receipts go in the running to win a $2000 hamper.
Organiser Jo O’Dea, owner of JOLT Footwear, hopes to make the competition an annual event.
“We’ve had at least 10 stores register and that number is steadily increasing,” said Mrs O’Dea.
“The more stores that get involved the better and the hope is to start a lasting Bunbury tradition.”
Windows will be judged the week before Christmas and the winner announced on December 21.
For more information or to register, shop owners are encouraged to contact competition organiser Jo O’Dea of JOLT Footwear on 9721 2140 or firstname.lastname@example.org.Margo Veen displays her Christmas themed storefront which makes use of the company’s logo to depict a nativity scene.
