The Gillard Government will unveil another $170 million in spending on the National Broadband Network, with $70 million in works awarded to a WA company.
Communications Minister Stephen Conroy will be in Perth today to detail plans for 10 satellite ground stations around the country to take fast internet to the bush.
He will open a new Perth outlet for iiNet and award a big contract to Perkins Builders for ground stations at Moonyoonooka, near Geraldton, Kalgoorlie and Waroona. Details of seven east coast ground stations will also be released.
Work has begun rolling out the network across WA but the NBN is yet to "go live" in any Perth suburb.
