Austal says it has won a £10.5 million ($A16.3 million) contract to design and build three wind farm support vessels for UK-based Turbine Transfers.
The 27 metre catamarans will be used for wind turbine installation and maintenance activities in European waters.
Austal said it would build the vessels at its shipyard in the Philippines over nine months, beginning in March next year.
It is Austal's third project with Turbine Transfers and represents the fruition of the company's strategy to pursue the growing market for wind farm boats in mid-2010.
The company acquired its Philippines shipyard specifically for the construction of windfarm vessels.
