Qantas has opened a new Qantas Club on the departure and arrival level of its Perth Airport domestic Terminal 3 to meet soaring demand.
The 400sqm lounge expansion, which opened yesterday, has increased the lounge's space more than 30 per cent. It can cater for an extra 140 passengers.
Qantas Loyalty chief executive Lesley Grant said there had been a huge increase in premium traffic because of the resources sector.
"The Qantas Group will obtain exclusive use of Terminals 3 and 4 as part of Perth Airport's transformation," Ms Grant said.
"All Qantas Group domestic and regional services - Qantas, Jetstar, QantasLink and Network Aviation - will operate from the same precinct."
Qantas is introducing other initiatives in WA.
The airline is using Airbus A330s on all weekday flights servicing Sydney-Perth and Melbourne-Perth and has upgraded Boeing 767s with new interiors and iPads with in-flight entertainment on Brisbane-Perth services.
Qantas has also added another screening lane to speed up processing of passengers. In a twist yesterday, a false alarm in the main domestic Qantas Club at T3 led to the evacuation of all members and guests for 30 minutes.
