Evolution Mining says it has begun commissioning of its 800,000 tonne per annum processing plant at the Mt Carlton gold-silver-copper mine in North Queensland.
"Dry commissioning of the crushing circuit has commenced and commissioning procedures are now expected to continue for a six to eight week period," the company said in a statement.
"All major fixed plant has been installed and construction of the main water supply dam and tailings storage facility is also complete."
Evolution said ore processing was expected to begin in February.
The company forecasts Mt Carlton to contribute 25,000-30,000 ounces of gold equivalent in full-year 2013 as it ramps up to full production.
Over its initial 12-year minelife, the project is expected to produce 720,000oz of gold, 14.4moz of silver and 25,000 tonnes of copper in concentrate.
Evolution's executive chairman Jake Klein said Mt Carlton was a high-quality project that was expected to become the company's lowest cost gold producer.Evolution shares were up 2.5 cents, or 1.51 per cent, to $1.685 at 8.25am.
