Mining contractor VDM Group says it has won a $17 million contract with Rio Tinto for its Brockman 4, phase two expansion in the Pilbara.
VDM will provide the engineering design work and construction of a new plant maintenance workshop, heavy vehicle fuel facility and related infrastructure, as well as additions to the existing village facilities.
The project will begin late next month with a peak workforce of about 80 people.
Managing director Andrew Broad said the project was another step in the company's transformation and strategy to increase its exposure to the resources sector.
VDM said this and other recent contract wins took its order book to more than $170 million.VDM shares were off 0.1 cents, or 2.44 per cent, to four cents at 11am.
