Former Gold Coast Suns AFL player Campbell Brown will face court next month accused of assaulting two police officers at a Gold Coast nightclub.
Brown, 30, from Benowa, and a 41-year-old from Ceres in Victoria, were arrested at 1.25am (AEST) on Sunday at a Broadbeach nightclub.
The duo allegedly assaulted two officers who were doing a routine patrol.
One of the men allegedly shoulder barged the officers, a police spokesman told AAP.
Both men have been charged with obstructing or assaulting police and are due to face the Southport Magistrates Court on February 4.
Brown has also been charged with refusing to leave a licensed venue.
On Sunday afternoon, Brown tweeted that it was all a misunderstanding.
"Media reports of a 'scuffle' with police are inaccurate. There was a misunderstanding trying to re-enter a venue but I was not in a scuffle," he wrote.
It's been reported Brown was out celebrating his horse's win at the Magic Millions carnival on the Gold Coast.
He was sacked from the club in December for punching and breaking the jaw of a team mate outside a Los Angeles nightclub.
