Two Goldfields residents have started their New Year with a bang after claiming their multimillion-dollar Division 1 Lotto win.
"The first winner to enter the exclusive Lotterywest Winners Room was a couple from Kalgoorlie who bought their ticket from Boulevard Newsagency in Kalgoorlie on December 21, winning $2,071,514," Lotterywest spokeswoman Jody Nunn said.
"The couple, in their 40s and 50s, were holidaying with friends when they were watching the Saturday Lotto draw.
"They couldn't believe it when, one by one, their numbers dropped down to line up the six numbers they had been playing regularly for 15 years."
The couple plan to spend their winnings on a new car, a holiday property and "bringing together family and friends for an upcoming 50th birthday celebration and possibly a luxurious cruise", Ms Nunn said.
"The second winner, a gentleman in his 50s from Leonora, bought his ticket from Leonora Supermarket and Hardware on December 28 and finished off 2013 by winning $610,368," she said.
"The local gentleman, who heard whispers while enjoying a quiet drink at the pub that a local had won Lotto, pulled out his Slikpik and couldn't believe his eyes when he was holding the winning ticket.
"He had several mates check he was a winner and then proceeded to shout the bar."
The man intends to retire early and move overseas.
Lotterywest said 1.6 million tickets were expected to be sold for tomorrow night's $30 million Megadraw.
"At our busiest times, Lotterywest terminals across our State will be churning out 43,000 tickets per hour," Ms Nunn said.
