Australia Post will deliver a million extra parcels during the festive season that it attributes to a boom in online Christmas shopping.
Australia Post said record numbers of shoppers were buying their Christmas presents online that added to the mountain of parcels being delivered to West Australians this year.
A spokeswoman said Welshpool, Palmyra and Bassendean had received the most parcels in WA this festive season.
Action Couriers spokesman Chris Blackwell said delivery companies were benefiting from the internet shopping trend.
He said online companies delivering to WA were using couriers to ease the load.
The Department of Commerce has warned shoppers heading online for their last-minute purchases to consider delays in their gifts being delivered.
Last year, the department received an average of 23 complaints a month relating to online shopping during the Christmas period, an increase of 63 per cent compared with the previous months.
