UPDATE 8.45am: Power has been restored to Fremantle residences and business this morning after a two-hour outage which created problems for peak hour traffic.
Western Power confirmed more than 2900 customers were without electricity from just before 7am.
A spokeswoman said the outage had been caused by an underground cable fault.
Residential areas and CBD businesses in Fremantle and East Fremantle were effected.
Generators were brought into the area to reactivate traffic lights.
Traffic signals were out on Canning and Stirling highways.
