South West Traffic officers are investigating two separate crashes in which a five-year-old boy and a 54-year-old man were seriously injured yesterday.
Around 6.3pm in Glen Iris a Mitsubishi Pajero was being driven east on Woodley Road. At the same time a five-year-old boy was riding a bicycle in the same area.
The two collided near the intersection of Gidgee Entrance.
The boy was taken to Bunbury Hospital with serious injuries, and was later flown to Princess Margaret Hospital due to the serious nature of his injuries.
Earlier in the afternoon, a motorcyclist crashed into a steel farm gate in Upper Capel.
A 54-year-old man from Muchea was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle north on Upper Capel Road.
As he approached the intersection of Goldfields Road it appears he lost control of the motorcycle and left the road, a police spokesman said.
After striking a kerb both the rider and motorcycle collided with a steel farm gate.
Due to the nature of his injuries, the man was flown to Royal Perth Hospital by the RAC Rescue Helicopter.
