Letizia looks for happier return
Popular veteran Dave Letizia looks to bounce back from a painful loss when he fights for the WA cruiserweight title in Perth tomorrow night.
Letizia was left shattered after he suffered a dislocated elbow and was forced to retire against Josh Webb in September.
Now the evergreen 43-year-old will be hoping for a happier ending when he takes on heavy-hitting Grant Horwood at the Kingsway Indoor Stadium in Madeley.
"Dave was heartbroken after the last fight and he's desperate to get back in," CDL Promotions' Ty Colman said.
"If he comes through this we'll be looking to rematch Webb next year."
Letizia's fight is the chief support bout to West Aussie Robbie Bryant's Australian title challenge against champion Dennis Hogan.
Australia's London Olympics boxing captain Luke Jackson takes his latest steps in the professional ranks with his third fight, while Bunbury teen Nathaniel May is also in action.
"Luke's a very talented boxer, and Nathaniel's a big prospect too," Colman said.
"He did a lot of sparring with Chris John and Matty Garlett and he's one for the future."
Daniel Dawson was also scheduled to fight on the eight-bout show but a cyst in his shoulder means "The Rock" is on the sidelines until 2014.
"We'll be looking for some big fights for Daniel next year, including pushing for a fight with Anthony Mundine," Colman said.
"We've spoken to (Mundine's manager) Khoder Nasser and there's interest in it."
