A mother in America has punished her 11-year-old daughter for twerking at school by making her stand at a busy roadside with an apology sign.
The dance craze, has enjoyed a surge of popularity recently thanks mainly to Miley Cyrus and her bizarre antics at the recent MTV VMA awards.
But Frances Hena, of Bakersfield in California, insists the nature of the dance makes it inappropriate for somebody of her daughter’s age, repots ABCNews.com.
Mrs Hena says she warned her daughter Jamie not to perform the dance at a recent school disco, and was furious when she found out he she had.
She came up with an unusual punishment and made her daughter stand at the busy intersection of a road with a sign saying ‘I was disrespecting my parents by twerking at a school dance’.
Mrs Hena told ABCNews.com: “That’s ridiculous to even think that’s okay at a school dance. When she’s 18, she can do whatever she wants. As of right now, that’s not something she’s going to be doing.
“I haven’t heard anything from the school still, and it’s just ridiculous to think that’s okay at a school dance. I’m also not sure my daughter realizes how seriously I take this.”
